Privacy Policy
Just Roll is operated by Competitive Metrics LLC ("we", "us"), the data controller for the Just Roll app, the Just Roll for Gyms app, and this website. This policy covers all three. It explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. The short version: we collect what the app needs to work, we show no ads, and we never sell your data.
What we collect
- Account — your email address (sign-in and account recovery).
- Profile — your handle, display name, bio, belt rank and stripes, and optionally your city and state.
- Training logs — the sessions you record: gi/no-gi, duration, rounds, submissions for/against, techniques, and notes.
- Competition records — events you enter, matches, results, and placements you log.
- Gym membership — the gym you join, your role in it, and your position on its leaderboard.
- Emergency contact and medical notes — if you choose to add them, an emergency contact's name, phone number and relationship to you, plus any medical notes you want your gym to have. You enter these yourself and can change or clear them any time. The coaches and owner of your gym can read them, because the point of them is that someone at the mat can act in an emergency.
- Content you post — posts, comments, reactions, follows, and any reports or blocks you submit.
- Device push tokens — if you enable notifications, the token Apple assigns your device so we can deliver them.
- Location — if you grant location permission, your device's location is used to find gyms near you and to power nearby-member discovery. We store an approximate coordinate on your profile for this; you can decline the permission and search by city and state instead.
- Photos and video — images and video you choose to add, such as a profile picture or media attached to a session or post. We access your camera or photo library only when you pick something.
- AI Coach memory — if you use the AI Coach, physical attributes you choose to share in chat (such as your height, build, flexibility, and any injuries you mention) so it can tailor advice to your body. You can view and delete this any time in the app, or turn it off.
We do not collect your contacts or any advertising identifiers, and we do not track you across other apps or websites. Location is collected only with your permission and only for the gym and member-discovery features described above.
If you run a gym
Just Roll for Gyms is the separate app gym owners and coaches use to run their academy. Alongside everything above, it records:
- Enquiries from prospective members — when someone asks about joining, gym staff can save their name and, optionally, an email address and phone number, plus a note, so the gym can follow up. This is entered by the gym, about a person who may have no Just Roll account. It is visible to that gym's staff and to us as the operator of the service; we never use it to market anything of our own, and we never sell it.
- Roster and gym operations — attendance and check-ins, rank and promotion history, the programs a member is on, dues and payment status, waivers, membership freezes, retail sales and staff time punches.
- Coaching notes — notes a gym's staff write about a member's progress.
If you contact us about using Just Roll for Gyms, we keep your name, email address and any phone number you give us so that we can reply.
How we use it
- To run the app: your feed, streaks, leaderboards, gym features, and competition record.
- To deliver push notifications you've opted into (reactions, comments, gym activity).
- To keep the community safe: enforcing our Community Guidelines, reviewing reports, and removing content that breaks the rules.
- To respond when you contact support.
- To generate AI Coach answers, voice-log drafts and Coach insights, using the AI service providers named below.

These providers process data only on our instructions. We don't share your data with advertisers or data brokers — there are none here.
AI Coach and AI service providers
The AI Coach is powered by OpenAI and Anthropic, AI service providers that process Coach requests on our behalf to generate responses. Each request is handled by one of them. When you use the Coach, we send the provider the message you type and up to your last few messages in that chat; the text of a voice-logged session, if you use voice logging; and the short factual summary behind a Coach insight, with your belt. If AI Coach memory is on, we also send the memory described above (such as your height, build, flexibility and any injuries you have mentioned) and a short summary of your training and competition record, such as your belt, mat hours, recent techniques, submissions and results, so the Coach can tailor its answers. If you turn AI Coach memory off, your memory and that summary are not sent and we do not generate Coach insights. We do not send your name or email address with these requests, but anything you type or say, such as a training partner's name or an injury, is sent as you wrote it.
We do not sell this data or use it for advertising. Under their API terms, OpenAI does not use data sent through its API to train its models unless a customer opts in to sharing, and Anthropic may not train its models on customer content sent through its services. How long each provider keeps requests, for example for abuse monitoring, is set by its own terms: see OpenAI's API data controls and Anthropic's Commercial Terms. Our own staff tools for support and operations use the same two providers; when a staff member looks up an account, details such as that account's email address and display name can be included in the request.
What other users see
Your handle, display name, belt, bio, city/state (if set), your posts and comments, and your place on your gym's leaderboard are visible to other Just Roll users per your post visibility settings. Your email address and raw training notes are never shown to other users unless you put them in a post yourself.
Your gym's staff see more than other members do. The owner and coaches of a gym you join can see your attendance, your rank and promotion history, the programs you are on, your dues status with that gym, and the emergency contact and medical notes you chose to add. They can also write coaching notes about your progress; those are visible to your gym's staff rather than to you, and you can email us at any time for a copy. They cannot see the notes on your own training sessions, or your AI Coach conversations and memory — those stay yours.
Retention & deletion
We keep your data while your account is active. You can delete your account in the iOS or Android app, or by emailing us — the steps, what is deleted and what is kept are on our Delete your account page. Deleting removes your profile and personal data, including the photos and videos you uploaded and your product-analytics profile; some moderation records may be retained where required for safety or legal reasons. Error reports (Sentry) are kept for up to 90 days and email-delivery logs (Resend) for 30 days, and then expire automatically; we can't edit them individually. Requests sent to our AI service providers (OpenAI and Anthropic) are held under those providers' own terms, and we can't delete them individually. Content you removed may persist briefly in backups before being purged.
Children
Just Roll accounts are for users 13 and older, or the higher local minimum age where one applies. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a child under 13 for the purpose of giving that child an account. If we learn that we hold account data from a child under 13, we delete it promptly.
Separately, a gym may record information about a junior student (name, rank, attendance, curriculum progress) as described in the Terms. That information is provided by the gym under the consent it is required to obtain, is not tied to any account the child can access, and is never used for advertising or profiling. A parent or legal guardian may email support@justrollhq.com to access, correct or delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy we'll update the version and effective date here and ask you to re-accept material changes in the app.
